What's New at MGP?
With our first harvest upon us, the garden has become a busy place. There is nothing like running into a fellow gardener and swapping garden tips and tricks and marveling at one anothers garden. The garden has also had a lot more volunteer traffic lately, which we are grateful for. Volunteers have been busy installing the fence and gates, which will most likely be completed by August 29th.
All members, volunteers and residents interested in the Milltown Garden Patch are welcome to attend our next meeting Sept 1, 2010 7pm at the River City Grill |

What are the Benefits of a Community Garden?
Many families living in Milltown area would like to grow some of their own vegetables, herbs, and flowers but simply don't have the space to do so. For others gardening is a relaxing way to exercise & enjoy the outdoors.
Those who participate in community gardening contribute to the preservation of open space, provide access to it, and create sustainable uses of the space. Community gardens help bring neighbors closer together, while beautifying our city. They can also promote environmental awareness and provide community education.
Like any other newly formed non-profit, we are always in need of volunteers to help us with an unlimited amount of tasks from harvesting to fundraising to working the land. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available with the Milltown Garden Patch, we hope you will consider getting involved.

The Milltown Garden Patch is a community based 501c3 non-profit organization established in June 2009 in Milltown MT. Since the Spring of 2010 we've been offering community garden plots to residents of Milltown, Bonner, Riverside and East Missoula who are interested in growing their own organic produce.
We've turned what was for years an unused parcel of land located in Milltown into a cultivated and productive community area. Our ongoing goal is to create an environment in which interested residents of the Milltown/Bonner/Riverside/East Missoula community can grow their own organic produce and create a "cash crop" which will give us the opportunity to give back to the community, by way of donations to local food banks. |
